The Premier League Christmas fixture list is well underway! We've already enjoyed two sets of games this week - and we're more than ready for another one.
Andrew Corns has his Premier League Predictions for us to enjoy, take on board and debate...
Bournemouth v. Liverpool
Bournemouth will be hoping their home advantage can overcome their lack of quality in comparison to the visitors.
Liverpool were able to rest Mane, Firmino and Salah for most of the Burnley game and will utilise their depth to wear down Bournemouth.
With the form Callum Wilson has been in, I think he continues with another goal in a losing effort where Liverpool’s front three come alive and keep Liverpool’s momentum rolling.
Prediction: 2-1 Liverpool
Manchester United v. Fulham
Putting Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku on the bench to start the Arsenal game looked like a surefire way for Mourinho to show that he either wants out of the debacle he’s created or wants to simply prove that he’s in control even at the detriment of the team.
Fulham are already showing improvement under Claudio Ranieri and I suspect they comfortably survive relegation by the time we enter the spring.
They’re still growing though and trying to secure a point or more at Old Trafford will prove too much.
Prediction: 2-0 United
Arsenal v. Huddersfield
Arsenal will be disappointed not to get the win at Manchester United on Wednesday where they took the lead twice and were the team more likely to secure a winning goal near the end.
Huddersfield were unable to muster enough for a point in their travels to Bournemouth and this is an even more difficult proposition. Arsenal keep on their blistering run and cruise to the win.
Prediction: 3-1 Arsenal
Cardiff City v. Southampton
Cardiff may have struggled in London on Tuesday but should still feel good about their victory over Wolves and play much better at home.
Southampton are in a state of change after Mark Hughes got sacked and it’ll be difficult to right the ship with so many games in a short space of time.
They’ll put in a respectable performance, but lack scoring options and won’t be able to keep Cardiff from getting a crucial win to separate themselves from others near the bottom.
Prediction: 1-0 Cardiff
Burnley v. Brighton
Brighton showed what they’re all about with a convincing win over Palace even after playing a man down for much of the match.
They enter a tough away ground where Burnley will be needing to a result after losing to Liverpool and playing one of the hardest December schedules in the league.
Both sides will battle hard and each deserve a well-earned point.
Prediction: 1-1 Draw
West Ham United v. Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace are a mess right now and go up against a West Ham side who are ever improving and play at another level at home.
They’ll make light work of Roy Hodgson’s side if Palace aren’t careful, they could see themselves deep in the relegation zone by Christmas.
Prediction: 2-0 West Ham
Chelsea v. Manchester City
If Manchester City are going to drop any points before January, this would be the match most people circled.
Chelsea have played well for much of the season with Sarri now at the helm but have looked poor in road losses to Wolves and Spurs recently.
You must imagine they will be up for a match of this magnitude and can make a real statement if they can be the first league side to beat City this season.
No matter what side Pep puts out, they’ll enter as favourites even though the game takes place at Stamford Bridge.
Two managers who play exciting football and loads of creativity all over the pitch means this match is guaranteed to entertain.
Expect a wild one from the first whistle. They’ll test each other frequently and I expect City to control the game, take the lead and force Chelsea to push for an equalizer that they’ll get late into stoppage time.
Prediction: 2-2 Draw
Leicester City v. Tottenham
Spurs bounced back from the embarrassing derby display at the Emirates with a comfortable win over a lost Southampton.
They’ll head to Leicester knowing anything, but a win probably sees them fall behind their London rivals, Arsenal, in the battle for fourth place.
I don’t love that Spurs lack depth after an uneventful transfer window and that will come back to haunt them as the month continues. Leicester holds on to split the points against a tired and light Spurs.
Prediction: 1-1 Draw
Newcastle United v. Wolverhampton
Wolves have been searching for a return to the form they came out of the gates with to start the season and found it on Wednesday against Chelsea.
They’ll travel to Newcastle and expect to walk away with the win. Newcastle haven’t done what’s needed to reinforce their side to survive another year in the league and would easily be at the bottom of the league if it wasn’t for the superb managerial skills Rafa Benitez brings every day.
He’ll have his team prepared to go toe to toe but will be overrun in the midfield and lose one of the more forgettable matches of the weekend.
Prediction: 1-0 Wolves
Everton v. Watford
Marco Silva’s old club travel to Merseyside to play his current group. A month into the season, it looked like Watford might be the better team and the Everton job was too much for Silva.
Now that we’re in December, Watford have continued to drop in the table (too good to ever dip below 13-14) while Everton are getting stronger each passing week.
They’re level on points with Manchester United and Bournemouth entering the weekend in the battle for sixth place and even though United have the vastly superior collection of players, I think I’d take Silva’s leadership and tactical acumen over present-day Mourinho.
Everton are too much for Watford to handle and will take a two-goal lead before fighting off a Watford rush at the end that sees the game stay close.
Prediction: 2-1 Everton
