Olivier Giroud supports Maurizio Sarri criticism of players

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has supported the criticism that his boss Maurizio Sarri gave them following last weekend's defeat to Arsenal.

Sarri ripped into his Chelsea team following their disappointing performance at the Emirates Stadium last Saturday.

The Italian boss labelled them "extremely hard to motivate" and also questioned their mentality following the 2-0 loss.

But striker, Giroud, believes the criticism from Sarri is fair. Asked if he believed it was fair, the France forward replied: "Yes. You can see from the start that you are not really in the game when you miss passes and you lose duels. That's the first thing in football.

"We are professional, we know we can play well and that we needed to do more. We talked between us, but afterwards you have to put the action on the pitch. You have to show determination through some actions."

Giroud was handed a rare start, with his Chelsea side narrowly beating Tottenham Hotspur on penalties in the Carabao Cup semi-final.

The Blues are next in Premier League action on Wednesday evening, as Sarri's men travel down to face Eddie Howe's well-drilled Bournemouth team.
