The Mirror report that the Championship side are keen to bolster their defensive options under new manager Martin O'Neil, and the manager believes Oxford is the perfect fit.
The 20-year-old English defender/midfielder has also been linked with a move abroad - with German side Eintracht Frankfurt reportedly in talks with the Hammers over his future.
Oxford has been at West Ham since Under-13s level and has progressed through the ranks ever since.
The youngster has made 17 first-team appearances for the Irons, but has been sent out on loan on numerous occasions.
