Sarri has found himself under loads of scrutiny recently following a bad run of results for the Blues and it certainly didn't help when goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga refused to be substituted in extra-time of their Carabao Cup final loss to Manchester City.

Many believe this latest incident from Arrizabalaga was a sign that Chelsea players have lost respect for their boss, but Luiz denies those claims.

"The coach has the power over the group and he has our respect," the Blues' central defender told the Guardian.

"For me, there is not a problem here with that. We all believe in his philosophy. We all believe in the way he wants us to play.

"That's why we did a great game against the best team in Europe at the moment. Apart from that, it was a misunderstanding and we all want to do the best for Chelsea.

"We wanted to show we are (behind Sarri) with an amazing game, because he's a great manager.

"He's a great person and he deserves our respect and the respect of everybody. He can lift everyone for the rest of the season and that is our goal.

"His style is a great philosophy. There's complete confidence (in it). You have to go a long way to win and be the best team but, to be the best team, you have to start somewhere and that's what we are trying to do.

"There's confidence in the system and that's why we played a great game."
