Andrew Corns is back once more with his Premier League Predictions as we enter matchday 20 of the Premier League!
Quick recap: Liverpool lead the pile by six clear points after Manchester City's loss to Leicester City last weekend!
Watford gave Chelsea a good match while Newcastle found life difficult at Anfield on Boxing Day.
Watford are the stronger overall team and being the home side gives them the edge. Things will be close, but Watford’s attacking options are better and give them a greater chance to find a winner.
Prediction: 2-1 Watford
Everton dismantled a poor Burnley and Brighton will be riding high after a well-earned point against Arsenal.
These two teams are more evenly matched than you’d have expected at the start of the year.
The game should provide plenty of entertainment and chances at both ends. Not much separates the two so I see it ending level and the points being split.
Prediction: 1-1 Draw
Spurs have been flying with eleven goals in their last two matches.
They host a Wolves team that will be disappointed to only earn a single point in their trip to Fulham.
Wolves are a well drilled and disciplined team, so things won’t be as easy for Spurs as they have been recently.
They’ll still have too much quality in the final third and be led by goals from Son and Kane respectively to maintain their place second in the standings.
Prediction: 2-1 Spurs
The two teams at the bottom of the table in a massive game that could dictate which team goes down and which has a fighting chance to survive.
Fulham’s home form hasn’t been, anything to remember and David Wagner usually sets his team up well for matches like this.
An even, uneventful game sees Huddersfield break through late to win it and leap ahead of Fulham in the standings.
Prediction: 1-0 Huddersfield
Leicester’s momentum couldn’t be higher after reeling off victories over Chelsea and Manchester City.
It’ll be important that they don’t let their guard down against a dogged Cardiff City. I expect Leicester to maintain focus and brush Cardiff aside without much trouble.
Prediction: 3-1 Leicester City
Matches between these two sides often bring plenty of goals and drama from the first whistle.
Liverpool’s much improved, league-best defence will keep this game from getting too wild though.
Arsenal are a very good side being coached expertly, but they’re not at Liverpool’s level quite yet.
The margins will be thin, but Liverpool will do enough to see the game out and continue their run of dominance at Anfield.
Prediction: 2-1 Liverpool
Palace beat Manchester City and then turned in a lackluster 0-0 performance at home to Cardiff.
They host Chelsea who have still found a way to get results even though their weaknesses are being exposed more with each passing week.
A better team might take advantage of their thin squad, but I’m not betting on Palace to offer much in the way of competition.
Prediction: 3-1 Chelsea
We haven’t had a chance to see this Manchester City squad chasing someone in the table to determine if they’ll be able to handle adversity and rise to the occasion.
Southampton are improving lately and will get up for a chance to take more points off a wounded City.
The problem for them is City will be angry and Pep will have his men ready to send a message.
City start the onslaught right away and Southampton will have to work hard just to keep the game close and respectable.
Prediction: 3-1 City
Burnley are a complete mess and there’s a very real possibility they finish the season dead last in the league.
Their defensive identity and home atmosphere are totally absent at this point. A visiting West Ham come in playing well and will push around Burnley on their way to a calm, comfortable three points.
Prediction: 2-0 West Ham
Since Jose Mourinho’s departure, Manchester United look like a team totally free and playing for each other without the restrictions Mourinho’s tactics and system often put on them.
They continue making a point that they’re better than their table position would suggest easily swatting aside a Bournemouth team too easy to break down and without the firepower to keep up.
Prediction: 4-0 United
