Chelsea vs Southampton

Chelsea will be looking to make it three consecutive victories as they host Southampton on Wednesday evening at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have won their last two games, that have both been away from the Bridge, at Watford and then Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Whereas Southampton lost their second game in succession on Sunday, as Manchester City beat them 3-1 at St. Mary's.

These sides have already met in the league this season: with Chelsea cruising to a 3-0 win on the South Coast, thanks to Eden Hazard, Ross Barkley and Alvaro Morata's goals.

Team News

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud is a doubt for Wednesday evening's match after an ankle injury he sustained in Sunday's win at Palace.

Pedro, Cesc Fabregas, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Danny Drinkwater are all still sidelined for the Blues.

Southampton full-back Ryan Bertrand may not be ready to return against his former team, but is nearing full fitness after back surgery.

Michael Obafemi is a doubt for the Saints as well, with midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg suspended for the visitors.

The Managers

Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri on the Blues' injury problems: "We are in trouble because in January we have to play every three days.

"We have to play 18 (more Premier League) matches, so other teams' results are not important. But it is crucial to have continuity."

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl: "The mentality and character of the team is okay. They believe in their qualities and we can do it better than we did.

"We did it against Arsenal and we can do it against Chelsea."
