Liverpool were dealt a big blow in the Premier League title race, as they lost 2-1 at Manchester City, but midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has insisted his team needs to remain confident.
The Reds were narrowly beaten by the champions on Thursday night to end their unbeaten league record.
Liverpool, at one stage, were looking the better side, just before and after Roberto Firmino's equaliser; but were ultimately outclassed on the night.
Wijnaldum has demanded that his Liverpool team remain confident, though - with the Reds still top by four clear points.
"We knew before the game that it would be a hard game and we would have to give everything to win the game," the Netherlands midfielder said.
"A few games this season we were lucky we have scored goals, and tonight we were unlucky with the chances that we had. That's football.
"Sometimes you have games where you score a lot and score with every chance that you get - and sometimes you don't. What we have to do now is to keep our confidence and win the next game."
Even though the Reds are still bookies' favourites to win the Premier League; Wijnaldum claimed that they are doing their best not to get caught up with the pressure of being leaders.
"What we are trying to do is not look at the table - where we are standing and how much we are clear - because we can only control our own performance and we cannot control the performance of (others) and their results," Wijnaldum added.
"We are only concentrating on our own thing; try to win our games, try to give everything and then we will look at the end of the season where we stand.
"We weren't busy looking at the table beforehand and we are not going to do it this time, either."
