Crystal Palace 1-2 Watford

Watford came from a goal down to beat Crystal Palace 2-1 at Selhurst Park, with Tom Cleverley's 74th minute strike enough for the Hornets.

A scramble just under 40 minutes ended with Craig Cathcart deflecting the ball into his own net, and with the aid of goal-line technology, Palace had the lead.

Cathcart redeemed himself with a 67th minute equaliser for Watford before Cleverley's winner seven minutes later.

Watford had two glorious opportunities five minutes into the game when Gerard Deulofeu hit the post, before the ball rebounded to Roberto Pereyra; who also hit the woodwork.

Troy Deeney came close with a header on 36 minutes, after climbing above Mamadou Sakho.

But just two minutes after that, it was Palace who took the lead; perhaps against the run-of-play.

Luka Milivojevic delivered a corner and it turned into a massive scrap, close to the goal. Eventually, Cathcart was hit by an Abdoulaye Doucoure clearance and the ball just about bundled over the line.

Milivojevic could have made it two nil to Palace, with sumptuous volley being palmed away by Ben Foster.

Watford equalised moments later, when Cathcart redeemed himself. Cathcart headed in Jose Holebas' corner and it was all-level.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka cleared the ball off the goal-line after Deeney's effort was deflected. Watford were knocking.

They took the next opportunity that presented itself, when Cleverley took advantage of a James Tomkins mis-hit clearance to volley past Wayne Hennessey.

The Managers

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson: "In the end, it's one of those games you have to accept but it's tough to accept it because I think we did enough to get at least a point out of the game but to go away with literally nothing is quite harsh."

Watford head coach Javi Gracia: "In the first minutes, we started very well. We created one clear cut chance to score, we didn't take it and after, the game was equal because of all the games we have played against this team are always very equal.

"I think the most important thing today was belief. We are doing a lot of things well and in the second-half, we've got the reward with two goals and with a great victory."
