Liverpool sign French defender

Liverpool have signed young French defender Billy Koumetio, according to ESPN Sport.

Koumetio has joined the Reds from US Orleans for a nominal fee, according to the same report.

The 16-year-old spent a trial at Liverpool last year and also travelled with the under-17s squad to Berlin for friendly matches in November.

The young French centre-back spent time at Lyon, coming through the youth ranks, before making a switch down to Ligue 2.
