Manchester City have moved to within seven points off leaders Liverpool and above Tottenham Hotspur, after a 3-1 win against Southampton.
Goals from David Silva, an own goal from James Ward-Prowse and a Sergio Aguero header cancelled out Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg's equaliser.
Hojbjerg was later sent off for a foul on Fernandinho, when the game was all but done.
City now face Liverpool on Thursday evening - in perhaps both team's biggest game of the season.
How it Happened
City made a dominant start on Sunday afternoon and their dominance soon turned into an early lead at St. Mary's.
Some good work from Bernardo Silva on the right hand side with the Portuguese winger finding his namesake David Silva who had an easy finish.
City could and should have doubled their lead 10 minutes later, when Riyad Mahrez went so close from a dynamite City counter-attack.
A wonderful City move 25 minutes in ripped Southampton apart, with Raheem Sterling eventually finding Sergio Aguero out, just six yards from goal; but Alex McCarthy saved very well.
Charlie Austin came close to an equaliser, but Ederson made a fantastic save; showing excellent reactions from close-range.
Southampton were eventually level when Hojbjerg robbed Oleksandr Zinchenko of possession and fired home past Ederson.
However, the score didn't last too long for the Saints, when Sterling's cross was hit into his own net by Ward-Prowse, rather fortuitously.
Aguero gave the champions a two-goal cushion in added time of the first-half, after a fantastic Zinchenko cross gave the Argentine a free header.
Southampton fans booed at half-time, in direction of referee Paul Tierney after he dismissed a penalty shout towards the end of the first-half, when it was 1-1.
Aguero nearly grabbed his second after the restart, when he turned swiftly before unleashing a left-footed strike that clipped the crossbar on its way over.
Mahrez had another great chance to put his name on the scoresheet; clean through against McCarthy - but the England goalkeeper again saved well.
Hojbjerg was red carded late on for a late challenge on City midfielder Fernandinho. The game was all done by that point and it was a crucial three points for Man City.
Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl: "The first 15-20 minutes we were not very good but we smelt a bit of sensation when we equalized.
"We saw that Man City is not that confident in the moment like they are when they win week after week. We tried to push ourselves back into the game and press a little bit earlier but we saw when they have time to turn they are dangerous."
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola: "It was important to win after two defeats and the players did what they had to do.
"If one team achieves 100 points and then the year after make 45 in the first round it is not all bad."
