Best XI: Outside the top six

It's no lie that the Premier League is dominated by the stars of the division, such as Harry Kane, Eden Hazard and Mo Salah.

The stars of the Premier League are a big reason why the top tier of English football is considered the best in the world, because the world-class players constantly provide excellent pieces of magic for their respected clubs week in, week out.

Outside of the top six, fans who aren’t too familiar with the Premier League, maybe unaware of the talent the lies with the so called ‘ smaller ‘ clubs.

A saying that is often associated with the Premier League is that: "anyone can beat anyone " and this is a very valid statement, this shows theres clear quality all over the division and some of the players in the ‘lesser ‘ teams can compete with the superstars.

A lot of fans of various different clubs, often debate on what is the best Premier League combined team and this always causes debate and a contrast of opinions.

The question has also been asked over recent years on what exactly is the best team outside of the regular top six clubs.

To explain this, you cant add players who play for the following: Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. After deep thought and debate with other fans, here is my Premier League best combined eleven, outside of the top six.

Jordan Pickford (GK)

Overall based on ability, Jordan Pickford is regarded as the best goalkeeper who applies their trade outside of the top six clubs.

A lot of fans started to turn their heads when Pickford burst onto the scene in Sunderland’s relegation season in 2017. Even though Pickford was magnificent in that season, his performances couldn’t save the black cats from beating the drop zone but their was a positive ending for Jordan.

During the summer of 2017, Pickford secured a big money move to Merseyside as Everton tied down the English keeper on a long-term contract. Since the move, Pickford has forever impressed between the sticks and earned himself the England No.1 shirt in Gareth Southgate’s side. Pickford’s highlight of his so far short career turned out to be in the World Cup, as his tremendous performances in Russia helped England to reach the semi-finals.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka (RB)

The 21-year-old full-back bursted onto the Premier League scene after injuries meant the young defender would get his chance to make a statement on the biggest stage of all.

At the back end of last season, Aaron Wan Bissaka made his debut in the Premier League and he’s not looked back since, with experienced defender Joel Ward losing his place in the Palace side due to Bissaka’s impressive performances down that right-hand side.

The energy and confidence of the youngster has impressed not just Crystal Palace fans, but all Premier League fans as the Croydon born player is being considered as one of the best right backs in the league.

The Selhurst Park faithful certainly adore Aaron Wan Bissaka as he came through their youth system in south London and knows what it means to wear the colours of Crystal Palace.

Lewis Dunk (CB)

The centre-back position is a hard one to pick in this team because there are so many candidates who can take the spot.

I believe the Brighton skipper deserves the nod in this team because of his leadership abilities and the way he has adapted to life in the Premier League since the seagulls earned promotion in 2017.

With the Help of Dunk leading the defensive line, Brighton managed to retain their top division league status as a 16th place league finish ensured safety.

Brighton are currently sitting healthy in mid table during the second successive Premier League season and Lewis Dunk has been attracting interest from bigger clubs in the league.

England manager Gareth Southgate has noticed the good form that Lewis has been portraying and called the defender up to the England squad on the 7th October 2018.

Harry Maguire (CB)

Since the start of last season when Harry Maguire secured a move from Hull City to East Midlands club Leicester, the English defender has excelled for the Foxes and has been regarded one of the best centre backs in the division.

Harry has gone from strength to strength in the Premier League and has earned interest from Manchester United.

In the summer of 2018, the Sheffield United academy product was rumoured to be on the verge of joining the Red Devils for a record fee, around £70m.

This just shows the quality of Maguire and a big reasoning behind this reported transfer fee was because of his excellent showing in the World Cup in Russia.

Harry’s ability and confidence of surging forward with the ball is a key reason why other teams want to secure the services of the defender, as its a rare trait for a centre back to have.

Lucas Digne (LB)

In the summer of 2018, Everton secured the services of Lucas Digne from Barcelona for a fee around £18m.

This was regarded as one of the best signings in the Premier League this season as the 25 year old’s ability is clear and £18m was seen as a cheap buy for the merseyside club.

Since Digne made his debut in August 2018, the French international has impressed in blue and some impressive set pieces has earned the left back goals this season.

Any player that comes from Barcelona will have talent and Digne proved this theory as Everton fans have been impressed with the progress and see the attacking full-back as one of their most important players this season.

Marko Arnautovic (RM)

When the Austrian wide player joined the Hammers from Stoke in 2017, there was much hype surrounding the signing as Marko had impressed over recent years for the potters, helping them to high placed finishers in the Premier League.

Arnie’s West Ham Career got off to a terrible start as his poor attitude was noticed by the fans who were soon to get on his back.

Poor performances and red cards hindered the 29 year old progress in east London but when David Moyes came into manager the club, Marko found a new vein of form and his new position as a number nine came with great success.

Arnautovic’s goal scoring success as a striker instantly brought back the fans love and now the Austrian remains a firm favourite at the London Stadium.

Andre Gomes (CM)

It came as a bit of a surprise when Everton tied down Andre Gomes on a season-long loan from Barcelona as many felt the Spanish deep lying playmaker could have joined a team with a higher status.

Fair play to the Portuguese midfielder because he took the step down from Spanish giants Barcelona, to show what he can do in the Premier League. Since his arrival, Everton fans will tell you the influence and impact that Andre Gomes has had is exceptional.

Without the 25 year-old's impact this season, Everton could be a lot worse off in the league as they have no other player who can dictate play like Gomes can in the centre of the park.

Roberto Pereyra (CM)

The Argentine playmaker joined Watford in the Summer of 2016 but struggled to find his feet in his first couple of years in Hertfordshire.

Since the arrival of Javi Gracia and especially this season, Roberto has really come to the fold in England and he is starting to show why Watford paid £13m two years ago.

Pereyra failed to cement down a regular position when he was at Juventus but it shows the quality of the player, as Juventus thought he could have answered problems in their team.

Felipe Anderson (LM)

In the summer of 2018 West Ham United went all out as the club acquired a lot of new players and a new manager, in experienced Manuel Pellegrini.

The major signing for the Hammers this season was Felipe Anderson from Lazio for a reported £36m and the Brazilian wide player came with a lot of expectation as West Ham are expected to climb up the table this year and finish in the top 10.

It was a quiet start to the season for Felipe but he soon found his feet in England and the flair player has massively impressed in recent months and is answering his critics on the pitch.

It seems Anderson will only get better in a West Ham jersey, which will of course bring joy to the Hammers' faithful.

Jamie Vardy (ST)

Since the spectacular title winning season back in 2016, Vardy has ben ever present for the Foxes upfront and the former England international has matured sincerely over the course of his Premier League career.

Vardy is considered one of the best front men in the whole division but because he applies his trade outside of a ‘ top six ‘ club, there's no doubt that the experienced striker gets the nod in this team.

The England striker holds the record for scoring in 11 consecutive Premier League games which shows his quality and consistency in England's top division.

Wilfried Zaha (ST)

The Crystal Palace talisman is the go-to guy for Roy Hodgson's team and has been for many seasons now.

Since the Ivorian failed to produce at Manchester United, the tricky attacker rejoined the Eagles and has matured with confidence and experience.

Traditionally a winger, Zaha has been converted to a striker in recent seasons due to his attacking instinct and impact he has in the Crystal Palace side.

Wilf’s importance at Selhurst Park is extremely noticeable as Palace’s record without him side is abysmal.
