Lanzini suffered the knee injury whilst away on international duty with Argentina just before the World Cup.
The 25-year-old ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament, meaning he had to have surgery - and, as a result, has missed the entire 2018/19 season to date.
But this news comes as a huge boost for Manuel Pellegrini's side, with a return for one of their strongest attackers not looking too far away.
The Hammers take on AFC Wimbledon in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday, before traveling to Wolves on Tuesday night in the Premier League.
