Alisson Becker: "Man City are still favourites for the title"

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker believes Manchester City are still favourites for the Premier League title, despite the Reds being four points clear.

The Reds' blistering start to the campaign saw them race to seven points clear of the champions.

However, City put in perhaps their best performance of the season to edge Liverpool 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium.

Goalkeeper Alisson, who arrived from Roma in the summer, has been an instrumental part of Liverpool's success this season.

But, the Brazilian doesn't want to get too carried away by his team's strong position at the top, and still believes City should be considered as favourites to clinch their second consecutive title.

"City proved their strength by winning the league comfortably last year," Alisson said to Goal.

"They have also invested for this season, so their team is even better now. They are very tough opponents and the big favourites.

"However, we also have our ambition to win the league this season and I believe in our talent to go all the way. But we have to think step-by-step and make sure we keep our feet on the ground."

Alisson believes Liverpool has got its "quality" back, but believes it is still a long process until they're the complete side.

"Liverpool now have the quality to fight for the biggest trophies, there is no doubt about it," the Reds goalkeeper added.

"But there's a long way ahead of us and it's important to be sure where we are going."

The leaders host Leicester City on Wednesday night at Anfield - where they may have to respond to whatever City manage at Newcastle on Tuesday.
