Man City 6-0 Chelsea

Manchester City have returned to the top of the Premier League as they demolished Chelsea to leapfrog Liverpool once more.

Sergio Aguero scored his 11th Premier League hat-trick (equalling Alan Shearer's record), Raheem Sterling scored a brace and Ilkay Gundogan bagged himself a goal.

City are now top of the league on goal difference, but Liverpool do have a game in hand on their rivals.

City started off the game in their typical electric fashion. Kevin de Bruyne's free-kick caught Chelsea sleeping and Bernardo Silva's cross was eventually turned in by Sterling for his first.

Aguero then missed perhaps one of the chances of the season, putting an open goal wide from less than six-yards.

However, he then scored one of the goals of the season in typical Aguero-style - beating Kepa Arrizabalaga from 30-yards out.

Ross Barkley's misplaced header then allowed Aguero to smartly finish for his second goal of the game.

Chelsea were absolutely stunned. City did what they have done in recent months - kill the game off by half-time.

Gundogan was the next player on the scoresheet, with Kepa perhaps allowing the ball to beat him a tad too easily.

Half-time occurred and City had scored four with no response from Chelsea - whose terrible form on the road looked set to continue.

Sterling was causing Cesar Azpilicueta problems all evening, and the Spaniard eventually caved in and brought the English forward down and Mike Dean pointed to the spot.

There was no doubt who was taking it, and there was no doubt when Aguero stepped up and made it 5-0 and completed his hat-trick.

There was time for one more when Sterling's left-footed close-range strike was too much for Kepa.

Chelsea, hopeless. City, on fire. Liverpool, watch out.

The Managers

Pep Guardiola: "To score six against Chelsea and the way we played, we had so much attention. We did it, it's an incredible compliment to the players, they are outstanding.

"We spoke this morning, we trained set-pieces, trained some movements and I never thought we would score this amount of goals."

Maurizio Sarri: "My feeling this week was really good. It was good during training and the technical meeting and the warm-up.

"The goal after three minutes made it very difficult to play against these opponents, who played fantastic football.

"The motivation today was good. We were not able to stay in the match and react later."
