Wolves 1-1 Newcastle

Willy Boly scored a 95th minute equaliser to deny a crucial three points for Newcastle United against Wolves at Molineux.

Isaac Hayden opened the scoring in the second-half for the Toon, but Boly's controversial stoppage-time goal broke Newcastle hearts.

Boly collided with Martin Dubravka - leaving the 'keeper on the deck, and absolutely furious with the officials.

Miguel Almiron made his Newcastle debut as a late substitute at Molineux.

The first-half saw Wolves have the majority of the play, but a half where neither side created too many clear-cut chances.

Wolves had a penalty shout when Raul Jimenez was brought down by Christian Atsu, but replays showed the winger got the ball from the Mexican.

Ruben Neves had one of his trademark long-range shots, but could only blaze it over Martin Dubravka's crossbar.

Fabian Schar went close from long-range for the visitors, but it was always going wide.

Boly had a free-header that went off-target before Jimenez saw his shot well-saved by Dubravka from a tight-angle.

Salomon Rondon's free header was straight at Rui Patricio, but the signs were that the Magpies' confidence was growing as the first-half went on.

Jonny's powerful shot right on the 18-yard line was saved by Dubravka, with the 'keeper doing extremely well to keep hold of it.

Rondon had Newcastle's best chance right on half-time, but Conor Coady dragged the striker out wide and forced him to strike on his left foot and it went comfortably wide of the Wolves goal.

Rafael Benitez would have been pleased with how his side grew into the first-half, and finished the better side.

Matt Doherty had a great chance - the best of the game - after the restart, but Sean Longstaff did well to put him off at the back post, meaning he headed over.

Schar looked as if he was going to shoot on 56 minutes, but did really well to disguise a pass to Hayden, who turned and smashed the ball home.

Patricio got a strong hand to the ball and really should have kept the ball out for Wolves.

Leander Dendoncker had a fantastic chance to make an instant reply for Wolves, but his headed effort from close-range was too central to Dubravka.

Newcastle record-signing Miguel Almiron came on for the last 20 minutes to make his debut for the Toon.

The Paraguay international was impressive, with his energy key in Newcastle getting out of any potential danger.

Adama Traore was a late substitute for Wolves, and he almost made an immediate impact with his shot-cum-cross landing to Jimenez, who headed wide from close-range.

Traore did make an impact with his ball in the 95th minute setting up Boly, who collided with Dubrakva, but the referee deemed it legal, much to the Toon Army's disgust.

Unbelievable finish and on the balance of play; perhaps a fair finish at Molineux.
