BOURNEMOUTH 1-2 ARSENAL: REPORT

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored his eighth goal of the season to win the game for Arsenal 2-1 at Bournemouth.

An own-goal from Jefferson Lerma and Aubameyang's second-half goal cancelled out Joshua King's fantastic equaliser on the stroke of half-time.

Bournemouth drop two places to eighth, with Arsenal staying in fifth, but are now just a point off fourth placed Chelsea.

HOW IT HAPPENED -

David Brooks thought he scored an early opener for the Cherries, but the offside flag denied the home side the lead.

Lucas Torreira clipped the post for the Gunners not long after from outside the box.

Ryan Fraser forced a great save from Bernd Leno from a free-kick, but the Cherries were punished for not being clinical enough.

Bizarrely enough, they were punished by their own player, with Lerma smashing past his own goalkeeper.

Bournemouth's reaction was brilliant and Fraser started a rapid counter-attack before playing it to Brooks, who laid it off to King to find the top corner effortlessly.

Arsenal regained the advantage after the half-time break, when Sead Kolasinac set up Aubameyang - and the Gabon international had the easy task of tapping the ball in.

Lerma came close to redeeming himself late on, but a deflection from Sokratis proved pivotal.

THE MANAGERS -

Eddie Howe: "If you look at the two goals we conceded, an own-goal and the winning goal, for all Arsenal's good play the game could have gone any way.

"I don't think the players individually would say they switched off (for Aubemyang's winner), but as a team we didn't look alert enough and we paid the price for that.

"It's really important that the players don't lose confidence and we have to try and respond next week."

Unai Emery: "In 90 minutes, we deserved the win. We worked with the system sometimes, it's another possibility and we spoke in the dressing room about how we can be better and control matches. But we have won with another system and we can also do that.

"Bournemouth pushed a lot but I'm very happy with every player and how they worked and it's good for next week. We are going to play another match against a top team like Tottenham."
