BRIGHTON 3-1 CRYSTAL PALACE: REPORT

10-man Brighton and Hove Albion have beaten their rivals Crystal Palace 3-1, after a sensational first-half for the Seagulls at the Amex Stadium.

Brighton raced to a 3-0 lead in the first-half with goals through Glenn Murray, Leon Balogun and Florin Andone.

Luka Milivojevic scored a late penalty for the visitors, but it proved to be just a consolation down on the South Coast.

Shane Duffy was sent off in the first-half, at just 1-0, for a headbutt on Palace full-back Patrick van Aanholt.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Brighton's first-half must have been the best in their Premier League era.

Joze Izquierdo was brought down in the box and the referee pointed to the spot - the ever-reliable Murray converted against his former team.

But just four minutes later, Duffy headbutted van Aanholt, and was dismissed for violent conduct.

It didn't disrupt Brighton, though, if anything, it did the opposite. Balogun came on for an injured Pascal Gross and scored immediately after coming on!

It was 3-0 for the 10 men; Andone send the Amex into ecstasy for his second goal in as many games for the Seagulls.

The second-half was a half of not too many opportunities for either side - with Brighton settling down, being happy with the three they scored in the first-half.

But on 81 minutes, Crystal Palace were awarded a penalty and a way back into the game.

Milivojevic sent Mat Ryan the wrong way from the spot, to give the Eagles some hope for the last 10 minutes.
