BURNLEY CAPTURE A VITAL WIN OVER A BETTER CARDIFF SIDE.

Burnley took all three points against Cardiff giving them back-to-back wins and leaving Cardiff still without a win this season.

Cardiff City were far better on the day but lacked quality in finishing chances, finishing the game with 19 shots but only 5 on target.

Burnley were able to score their chances when it mattered, scoring 2 goals with 2 shots on target.

Cardiff's Josh Murphy delivered a great pefromnace, scoring his first Premier League goal whilst it was Burnley's Gudmundsson who had the final say, opening the scoring and getting an assist for Sam Vokes' goal which won them the game.

Both sides came into this game knowing they could pick up what could be a vital three points in the season.

The teams had a total of 6 points between them meaning a win could get them some breathing room for the time being.

Cardiff came out of the starting blocks knowing this was a great chance at getting their first win of the season, pressuring Burnley in the opening 15 minutes.

This was reflected when Cardiff winger Josh Murphy hit the post in the 17th minute.

Cardiff were by far the better team for the opening and it only got worse for Burnley as key defender James Tarkowski was forced off with an injury in the 27th minute.

Cardff again came close to breaking the deadlock with several good saves from Joe hart and a disallowed goal in the 36th minute, despite this Burnley began to settle into the game but did little to threaten Cardiff.

Burnely once again hung on to keep the game level when a header from Sean Morrison was cleared off the line in the 41st.

The first half was overall not very eventful with Cardiff having key chances but missing that final bit of quality to get the goal they deserved.

After failing to score multiple times it was Cardiff who conceded the opener, as Gudmundsson heads in from the back post, Greg Cunningham will definitely feel he could have done more to stop it. 51 minutes played.

Cardiff do not let that stop them as they almost score instantly after conceding but instead have to wait until the 60th minute for Josh Murphy to produce a great finish, beating Joe Hart and giving Murphy his first Premier League goal.

Another good save from Joe Hart denies Josh Murphy his second in the 67th minute and just as the first goal happened, with Cardiff failing to finish chances, it is Burnley who take the lead once again from a counter attack, Gudmundsson crosses and Sam Vokes scores the header.

The final 20 minutes were a quiet affair with Burnley holding on to all 3 points despite Cardiff's Josh Murphy causing danger at every opportunity.

Cardiff will once again be disappointed not to get a win let alone a draw out of a game where they were the far better side.

The resilience of Burnley has won them so many points in their time in the Premier League and once again it prevailed.
