BURNLEY VS MANCHESTER UNITED: PREVIEW

Sean Dyche is hoping his side can build upon their strong Europa League performance, ahead of this weekend’s fixture against Manchester United.

Burnley bounced back from a string of bad results with a positive display in their exit from the Europa League on Thursday evening.

Despite the aggregate loss to Greek side Olympiacos, the Burnley boss praised his side’s attitude in the final leg.

“It was back to us, back to our identity, back to a dominant performance, the feel of the game, the energy of the game, the never-say-die attitude. I loved that,” said Dyche.

Dyche was also full of praise for his opposite number ahead of the United fixture.

The Burnley manager admitted: “My respect for people like José is because I’m a young manager, leading the game, these people have done enormous things in the game.

“You’ve got to have a bit more respect when they’ve done what they’ve done in the game.”

Dyche has also reflected on the notion that United are no longer as threatening as they once were.

“You quickly remind yourself when you look at their team sheet, and the players they’ve got, and the manager they’ve got, that they’re a top class side, it’s a simple as that.

“It’s a massive challenge to get a result against them or beat them,” he added.

Dyche may look for Matej Vydra to continue his form after netting in his debut against Olympiakos.

Burnley will likely rotate once again with Joe Hart, Matt Lowton, James Tarkowski, Jack Cork and Chris Wood likely to come in at the expense of Tom Heaton, Phil Bardsley, Kevin Long, Ashley Westwood and Ashley Barnes respectively.

Long-term absentee Robbie Brady, who started his career at Old Trafford, will miss this game, as will Johan Berg Gudmundsson. Steven Defour remains a doubt.

United are favourites to win this game with Sky Bet at 4/6 with Burnley priced at 9/2 for the 3 points.

Match prediction: Burnley 0 – 2 Manchester United
