Burnley travel to Cardiff on Sunday in the Premier League, fresh from their 4-0 demolition of Bournemouth at Turf Moor last time out.

That was their first victory of the season, meanwhile Cardiff have not registered a win since returning to the top flight, and suffered a 5-0 home loss to champions Manchester City last Saturday.

The home side need a win, after dropping into the bottom 3 for the first time after the results from the last round, Burnley leapfrogged the Bluebirds with that win against Bournemouth, who had started the season in fine form.

With two matches before the next international break, Burnley will hope to put together a good run and climb up the table and they face Huddersfield on Matchday 8, the Premier League's bottom club.

VOKES READY TO ROLL

Sam Vokes says his Clarets side are "ready to roll" after admitting the pressure had been eased after their Europa League exit and the four consecutive league defeats.

The Wales international said: “You put a couple of results together now and you jump up that table. It’s important that we do that.

“We can just lay back after the Bournemouth result and think that’s the job done. We need to build on that and go again.”

WARNOCK'S COMMENTS:

Cardiff are on a run of three successive defeats, the worst run of the Warnock era and has reiterated the importance of the home crowd for the match.

“The fixture list hasn’t been too kind to us; in the first ten games we're playing nearly all of the top seven from last year,” he began.

“It is a little bit cruel, but we’ve got to hang in there.

“I always believe, apart from that top six, everything is winnable in this league - and Burnley are in that category.

“I can’t fault the lads. They’re trying as hard as they can. They’ve just got to eliminate the mistakes really and we need to make more of a game of it for the 90 minutes. "That's what we need to do - get the home crowd going too, and give them something to shout about."

STATS

Burnley last beat Sunday's hosts back in 2007, and since then there have been 13 meetings, 4 of which have ended in Cardiff victories.

Cardiff's home form was vital for them in the Championship last term, and their last home win came against Nottingham Forest in April.

If they are to avoid relegation, winning games like this, especially at home, is essential.

Burnley last beat Cardiff away from home in a third tier match in 2000, the year Burnley secured promotion to the Championship.

Cardiff on the other hand were relegated to the fourth tier.

Burnley finished last season with a run of 3 wins, 2 draws and 2 defeats on the road, but their travelling fans haven't had much to cheer about on away days this year, with 4 losses on the trot including the 2-1 defeat at Burton in the Carabao Cup last time out.

INJURY LATEST

For Cardiff, Lee Peltier was forced off in the last round just after half time, so could be replaced at right-back by Bruno Ecuele Manga.

Manga impressed at right-back before being moved inside to centre-back for the Man City defeat.

Aron Gunnarsson is nearing a return to the first team after his knee problems last season before captaining Iceland at the World Cup.

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing suffered a long-term knee injury in Matchday 3 against Huddersfield, meanwhile in the Burnley camp Robbie Brady hasn't played all season and Nick Pope is out until December.

PREDICTION

Cardiff's performances this season have merited more points than they have accumulated so far, and in all honesty losing to Man City is not a result that will concern Neil Warnock too much.

After Burnley's first team were humiliated by League One side Burton Albion midweek, I think Cardiff will get their first win of the season on Sunday.

CARDIFF to WIN 1-0 is 13/2 with Sky Bet.
