CENTURION MURRAY SINKS WOLVES

Glenn Murray's 100th goal was the match-winner as Brighton and Hove Albion beat Wolves 1-0 at the Amex Stadium.

The 35-year-old tapped home for his 100th goal for the Seagulls just after half-time and Wolves couldn't find a way to respond.

Brighton move up to 11th after two consecutive 1-0 wins and their third consecutive win in the Premier League for the first time.

Wolves were the side who dominated proceedings and Matt Doherty should have opened the scoring but saw his shot curl just wide of the post.

Shane Duffy had a glorious chance for the home side but somehow the central defender missed the target from close-range.

But not long after, Murray, who was a doubt for the game after suffering with concussion last weekend at St. James' Park, converted at the far post for his sixth league goal of the season.

Despite Wolves pressuring the Seagulls' goal; Nuno Espirito Santo's team couldn't find a way past a strong Brighton defence.

Brighton boss Chris Hughton believes his side can play a lot better but was very impressed with their resilient defending.

"That was our most resilient performance since last week!" Hughton joked. "We would prefer not to make a habit of having to defend really well against a good Wolves team, but it is a trait that brings the best out of a team. We can play better, though.

"I spoke to the players after about how difficult it is for a team like us to get three wins in a row - to get three wins and clean sheets on the bounce is very, very difficult for a club like us at this level.

"But we need to try and use the things we're good at and try and be better in our next games."

Santo admitted that him and his team were shocked with the result but was pleased with the performance from Wolves.

"The result was definitely not what we expected," Santo said. "The boys worked for it and the performance was good. It was better (than last week) and a good reaction.

"But we must improve on the final touch, we created many chances, we deserved to put inside the net and today was not the day.

"A lot (disappointed with the goal), from a throw-in, small details change realities and the reality of this game was changed by the detail of the throw-in that we conceded a goal.

"The reality is we did enough to deserve... but credit to Brighton, they defended and threw bodies on the line of the ball."
