Chelsea have lost their 100% Premier League record after a goalless draw against West Ham.
West Ham had the better chances in the game and should have scored when Andriy Yarmolenko produced one of the misses of the season.
The Hammers were resolute at the London Stadium, defending in numbers and countering to give Chelsea problems throughout the game.
The Blues started the game strong, with West Ham posing no threat at the opposite end.
But it was the Hammers who would have the only chance of the first-half. A fast counter was almost finished off by Michail Antonio, who forced a good save from goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.
That would be the only chance of a first-half where West Ham could not breakdown Chelsea’s defence, and the Blues never really stepped out of first gear.
Morata was subistuted on in the 60th minute and almost made an instant impact. A delicate chip over the top was not dealt with well by the West Ham defence. Morata stretched and with his first touch of the game, stabbed the ball towards goal but it was saved from close range by the face of Lukasz Fabianski.
With ten minutes left, a Robert Snodgrass cross found Yarmolenko who headed wide from just five-yards out. The miss was so bad, it even brought injured Marko Arnautovic out of his seat.
In the first minute of stoppage-time, substitute Ross Barkley forced another save from Fabianski with a dipping long-range effort. But that would the last chance for Chelsea, who could not breakdown the West Ham barricade.
West Ham now have four points from there last two games and will look to capitalise on an inconsistent Manchester United team when they host them next weekend.
Chelsea drop points for the first time this season and now trail Liverpool by two points, who they play twice next week in the Cup and the League.
