DIER'S GOAL EXTENDS CARDIFF'S WINLESS RUN

Eric Dier's early goal was enough for Tottenham as they extended Cardiff's winless run, after a 1-0 win at Wembley.

Tottenham came into the game after losing to Barcelona in midweek, looking for a reaction against a winless Cardiff side.

Neil Warnock's side were still looking for their first win, now only one of three sides (Huddersfield and Newcastle, the others) still without a win.

Jacob Murphy, extraordinarily had a shot straight away from kick-off to try and test Hugo Lloris, but he couldn't even manage that!

Spurs took the lead, though, very early on when Eric Dier was in the right place at the right time as Davinson Sanchez's header fell to the England midfielder.

Spurs were dominant, as expected at Wembley and had a few chances to double their lead - with the majority of their chances falling to Lucas Moura; but the Brazilian couldn't convert.

The hosts started the second-half much like how they played in the first-half, on top...

Harry Kane's header was saved well by Neil Etheridge and Lucas pounced on the loose ball, but his effort was cleared off the line.

Cardiff's task got a whole lot harder an hour in when Joe Ralls was shown a straight red card for his foul on Lucas.

The game finished 1-0 and another loss for the Welsh side, but not as disappointing of a performance than they have put in this season so far.
