Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater was told by boss Maurizio Sarri that he was surplus to requirements at the start of the season.
Drinkwater was arrested on Wednesday for suspicion of drink driving, and reports have stated that the former Leicester man is not needed at Stamford Bridge anymore.
The former England international was signed by Chelsea for £35m in 2017, but he hasn't played one minute of competitive football under Sarri, since the Italian was appointed last summer.
According to BT Sport, Chelsea boss Sarri confirmed to Drinkwater at the start of the season that he was not needed because he doesn't suit the 'Sarri Ball' style of play.
Drinkwater played 22 times for the Blues during the 2017-18 season following his arrival from the Foxes the summer before.
