EVERTON 1-1 HUDDERFIELD: MATCH REPORT

2 Goals in 2 minutes was the story of the game as neither side looked like scoring the winning goal.


A header from Billing put Huddersfield 1-0 up in the 34th minute against the run of play.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin equalized for Everton 2 minutes later, also with a header.


The game struggled to replicate that energy after that as both sides looked spent.


Everton seemed to badly miss the suspended Richarlison.



Huddersfield defended very deep from the offset as Everton took control of the game.


Everton enjoy large periods of possession but struggle to create any chances in the opening ten minutes.


There is a penalty shout for Everton in the 19th minute as Cenk Tosun falls to the ground when battling Terence Kongolo for an aerial ball, the appeal is waved off.


Everton struggle to threaten Huddersfield as David Wagner’s men are do a good job of staying solid at the back.


Philip Billing breaks the deadlock as he scores a header from a corner to upset the home side.


Everton respond rapidly as Dominic Calvert-Lewin connects well with a cross from Lucas Digne to header the ball past Jonas Lossl, 1-1 35 mins played.


The remainder of the first half is a fairly quiet affair as both sides struggle to get anything going again.


Theo Walcott was forced off the pitch with an injury in the 56th minute and is replaced by Ademola Lookman, Walcott started the season in good form.


The second half continues from where the first left off with neither side creating a clear chance to take the lead.


The remainder of the game plays out in dull-fashion as neither side seem to have that spark needed to push on a score another.


Tosun has a chance late on in the 88th minute but his header form very close range is hit high and wide.


Hudderfield will be happy to come away from that with a point, their first of the season.


Everton on the other hand will be disappointed that they were not able to win the game despite dominating it for large periods, they certainly missed the flair and directness of Richarlison.
