EVERTON 1-1 NEWCASTLE: REPORT

A seventh goal of the season for Richarlison wasn't enough for Everton to get three points against Newcastle United at Goodison Park.

Salomon Rondon scored early on for the Magpies, but Richarlison levelled the game to continue his excellent season so far.

Everton have moved back above Bournemouth in the table with the point, but Newcastle remain in 14th.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Jacob Murphy went on a brilliant run for Newcastle to find Rondon at the far post, with the Venezuelan striker putting the Magpies ahead. Very suspect defending from Everton.

Everton had a great chance to equalise, when Gylfi Sigurdsson's shot from close range was excellently blocked by Federico Fernandez.

Just three minutes later, Everton were level when Sigurdsson's cross was flicked on by Yerry Mina, who found Richarlison at the far post - with the Brazil international scoring his seventh goal of the season.

Into the second-half and it was 45 minutes of very little for both teams. Marco Silva must have been left rather confused to why his side couldn't create too much in the second-half.

In fact, Newcastle had the best chance of the second-half. Christian Atsu was slipped through by Ayoze Perez, but the winger could only find the arms of Jordan Pickford.

Everton dominated possession and the territory at Goodison, but they couldn't create enough chances to test Martin Dubravka.
