Nabil Fekir passed his Liverpool medical last summer and even had photos in the famous shirt, according to the attacker's ex-agent.
Fekir was poised to join Liverpool last summer, but the Premier League side pulled out of the deal at the last minute.
With Philippe Coutinho leaving Anfield a few months before, the Frenchman was dubbed as an ideal replacement for the now-Barcelona midfielder.
The reasons for the Reds pulling out of the, what seemed to be all-but-done deal, had never been revealed. Until now. Fekir's ex-agent Jean-Pierre Bernes revealed the reasons to L'Equipe.
"It is not about staying here," Bernes said about Fekir's future at current club Lyon. "And we will know maybe the real circumstances that prevented Fekir's move to Liverpool.
"The knee was part of it, but not only that. He had passed a medical, done photos with the Reds' shirt."
