FODEN WANTS TO EMULATE SILVA

Manchester City starlet Phil Foden has revealed that he wants to emulate his team-mate David Silva.

The 18-year-old highly-rated midfielder earned his first England U21 call-up having impressed for City so far this season.

England U21s face Andorra (Thursday) and Scotland (Tuesday) and Foden is set to make his debut in one of the two matches.

Foden was being quizzed by Sky Sports and asked about his biggest football inspirations.

"David Silva, because I've seen him come through at City," Foden revealed. "He's been a great player for us and I've really enjoyed watching him."

Silva has made 354 appearances for City in his time there, and won three Premier League titles, three League Cups and one FA Cup.

Foden was asked whether he wished to emulate the Spaniard's career at the club, and replied: "Yeah, definitely.

"I watch him closely, he's a great player and someone I want to be like in the future. Probably him and Lionel Messi. I'm my own player, but they are great players.

"They have great characters, they show that on the pitch, and impress me every time they play."
