Wenger was spoken to by Fulham before Claudio Ranieri's appointment on Wednesday.

The Cottagers sit rock-bottom of the Premier League and decided to part ways with the man who gained them promotion last season, Jokanovic.

Sky Sports say that Wenger was approached over the managerial position, but the Italian was their first choice and the only person offered the job.

The club admitted they spoke to multiple candidates about becoming manager, and one of them was Wenger.

Wenger stepped down at Arsenal after winning three Premier League titles and seven FA Cups with the Gunners.

The former Arsenal boss told the media that he would find it "odd" to manage anywhere else in England other than Arsenal.

Also, former Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas and old Watford boss Quique Sanchez Flores were also approached by the London club.
