Giggs explains Ampadu's injury problems

Wales boss and former Manchester United star Ryan Giggs has discussed the condition of Chelsea youngster Ethan Ampadu.

Ampadu has recently been ruled out of Wales' upcoming games with a back injury, with the Blues defender looking set to feature beforehand.

The Wales defender will miss his side's friendly match against Trinidad and Tobaho and then their European Championships qualifying game against Slovakia a few days later.

Giggs has been talking about Ampadu's injury problems and even drew comparison between his problems and Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard's condition when he was younger.

The Wales boss told BT Sport:

"He reminds me of Steven (Gerrard) because he's still growing. Every time we meet up I think he's grown, or I've shrunk; one of the two!

"He's growing out, he's growing up, but he's at that stage when he's growing - in between playing and not playing.

"I think that's the main issue. Steven Gerrard had it, and a couple of players had it when they're still growing, they pick up these little knocks and strains."
