Mathias Jorgensen gave the Terriers an early lead - 55 seconds; the quickest goal of the Premier League so far this season.

However, a Shane Duffy equaliser just before half-time, and a Florin Andone header ensured Brighton came away with the three points.

Steve Mounie was sent off for the hosts after a high challenge on Yves Bissouma, which left the home fans fuming.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Just 55 seconds in, Bruno's poor clearance landed in his own area and Jorgensen headed past Mat Ryan for 1-0.

Mounie was then shown a straight red card by Michael Oliver after a challenge on Bissouma, and it looked unintentional.

Brighton began to apply the pressure with a man advantage and it told in the fourth minute of added on time in the first-half.

Solly March's cross was met by defender Duffy, whose crisp header beat Jonas Lossl and found the far corner.

Brighton started the second-half on the front foot and Huddersfield's creativity was lost when Alex Pritchard was brought off for Laurent Depoitre.

March turned provider yet again for Andone, who headed in his brilliant cross from the right for his first goal for the side.

There was more controversy towards the end when Brighton substitute Leon Balogun was not shown red for a bad challenge on Erik Durm.

Brighton held on some precious away points, and Chris Hughton's side have moved up to 11th in the Premier League table.

THE MANAGERS

Huddersfield Town manager David Wagner:

"I have to have consistency in decisions and from my point of view this wasn't the case.

"I really like how my players fought and how they tried to keep their head high against all these decisions.

"This is for sure not easy but this will bring us even more together as a group to show everybody that it's important. You only want the feeling you get judged fair and this wasn't the case today."

Brighton boss Chris Hughton:

"We were good after conceding the early goal. When they went down to 10 men you have to try and capitalise on that. It was completely different this week. We played against 10 men last week and didn't do enough on the ball but we did today.

"It is difficult when you are the team with 11 men but we made the extra man show and Florin Andone's goal was excellent.

"It is an important three points away from home. It is important we are picking up points. It feels like a big one for us as well."
