HUDDERSFIELD VS LIVERPOOL: PREVIEW

The Saturday evening kick-off sees a struggling Huddersfield Town side host Liverpool, who have lost some of their momentum they carried a few weeks ago.

Huddersfield picked up a positive point against Burnley before the international break; and impressed in their performance.

However, the Terriers still sit all the way down in 18th and are still without a win so far this season.

Liverpool started off winning their first six games of the season, but have drew their last two; albeit against strong Chelsea and Manchester City sides.

Jurgen Klopp will be desperate for his team to respond to their recent dip in form as they look to keep the pressure on at the top of the Premier League.

TEAM NEWS:

Huddersfield's Philip Billing picked up a knock whilst on international duty for Denmark under-21s, and looks a doubt for the trip of the Reds.

Terence Kongolo is a sure absentee for the Terriers, and Aaron Mooy, Chris Lowe, Danny Williams and Tommy Smith are all doubts for David Wagner's side.

As for the visitors, they've had a torrid international break, injury wise.

Mohamed Salah picked up a knock whilst representing Egypt and hobbled off the pitch just before full-time, but is expected to be fit for the trip.

Virgil van Dijk irritated his rib injury that he sustained in a Liverpool shirt in their 3-0 win against Southampton a few weeks ago, and the Dutch defender is to face a late fitness test.

Sadio Mane and Naby Keita also picked up knocks for their countries and they too face fitness tests.

James Milner is expected to sit out for the Reds, after a hamstring injury forced him off last time out against former side Manchester City in the 0-0 draw at Anfield.

MANAGERS COMMENTS:

Huddersfield manager Wagner feels as if his side were unlucky to only pick up a point last time out at Burnley.

"The performance stays," Wagner demanded. "We played a very good away game but, unfortunately, with not the result we deserved.

"Now we have a great opportunity, a wonderful game in front of us, with our home crowd against a very strong side, where we can hopefully perform on the same level."

Wagner was asked whether this is a good time to face Liverpool, with their injury concerns ahead of Saturday's match.

"I know Jurgen long enough to know he loves to use some smoke screens," Wagner joked. "Don't believe everything you read. I expect most of his players will be on the grass on Saturday."

Klopp gave the media updates on his 'smokescreen' to the press, and also hinted at a possible return for midfielder Adam Lallana.

"Yes, of course (Lallana is in contention to face Huddersfield)," Klopp insisted. "Now it's getting a bit difficult with judging how fit he is really.

"But training looks tremendous; he obviously enjoys playing football. It's easy to enjoy watching (him).

"We will see what we do. Nobody, not even he, knows how long he can (play) and stuff like that. We still want to be careful - not too careful but, of course, careful (so) that we reach the point where we don't have to think about it anymore."

BETTING ODDS:

Liverpool are unsurprisingly huge favourites for this one, with Bet 365 offering the Reds to win at 1/3 - with a home win at 10/1. A draw in this fixture is 9/2.

PREDICTION:

I think Huddersfield will play well in this one and perhaps surprise a few who think Liverpool are going to run away with this one.

Liverpool should have too much for this Huddersfield side, though; I think Salah will return to his goalscoring form and the Reds will win by two goals to nil.

Huddersfield 0-2 Liverpool
