Liverpool returned to the top of the table with a laboured 3-1 win over a resilient Southampton on Friday night, Advait Laith writes.
Compared to Manchester City, Liverpool have struggled to break down their opponents, with the decisive goals arriving after the 80th-minute for the Reds in the last three Premier League games.
Jurgen Klopp, however, was quick to brush off these comparisions with Guardiola's men. In his post match interview with Sky Sports, Klopp insisted that Liverpool have their own style.
"People want us to play like Manchester City. We are unable to do that. Why should we do it? We play our own football. It's a nice way, and a really good way. We have 82 points now," Klopp said.
That is massive in this crazy league, with these unbelievably strong opponents, and everyone is waiting for us. I am really proud. It is incredible."
Klopp needed an impressive substitute performance from Jordan Henderson, who assisted and scored for Liverpool after being brought on at the hour-mark.
He praised the spirit of this Liverpool team: "I'm really, really happy about the performance and the game because we knew it was difficult for us, so that was good. Winning here is not easy but we did it - really good.
"We had a few performances not on top level but we were always in the game, it's not about that, it's really about fighting. I'm really proud of what the boys did tonight, it's incredible."
Klopp also lauded Mohamed Salah and his 50th goal for the club, claiming his strike to be "world-class".
"Everyone was probably waiting for the pass to Bobby (Firmino) but he couldn't pass, it was not a good angle, so he finished it off and it was world class."
Liverpool have five games to go and face Chelsea next at Anfield in a crucial clash that could decide the title.
With Manchester City playing in the FA Cup semi finals this weekend, Liverpool can see themselves at the top of the table for the foreseeable future, albeit City having a game in hand.
