LATE MKHITARYAN GOAL PREVENT GUNNERS' BLUSHES

ree

Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored late on for Arsenal to equalise against Wolves after going 1-0 down very early on.

Ivan Cavaleiro scored in the 13th minute and the goal looked to be enough for Wolves, who would have their first win in three Premier League matches.

However, Mkhitaryan's cross went all the way in past Rui Patricio to break the visitors' hearts at the Emirates.

Arsenal failed to apply any pressure on their rivals Tottenham, who are in fourth place, with the draw, though.

Wolves have moved into the top half with the draw, which is a fantastic result - despite leading for the majority of the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED -

With Arsenal's scintillating form of late and Wolves' recent decline; this would look like one of the home 'bankers' of the weekend.

But it was anything but that, when Wolves took the lead early on at the Emirates.

Raul Jiminez set up Ivan Cavaleiro, who found the bottom right corner from the middle of the area.

Ruben Neves had a half-chance for the visitors, but the Portuguese midfielder couldn't keep his shot down.

It was then Arsenal's turn to attack, and they so nearly levelled the match when Alexandre Lacazette saw his shot cleared off the line.

Wolves broke down the other end and could've doubled their lead straight after the Gunners nearly equalising; but Helder Costa's effort was well saved by Bernd Leno.

It was a very disappointing half for Arsenal, as they looked a shadow of the side we've witnessed in recent weeks.

Arsenal were struggling to really threaten the Wolves goal, with a half-chance for Granit Xhaka but his 25-yard shot was disappointing.

Lucas Torreira had a chance from a similar position to his Swiss team-mate, but managed to find the target with his dipping shot; forcing a save out of Rui Patricio.

Arsenal were growing and growing, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had a glorious chance to level the game, but he could only find the post from Hector Bellerin's low cross.

But the Gunners did find a late response, as they so often do at the Emirates.

Mkhitaryan's cross from the left-hand side found the far corner and Wolves' hearts were broken.

But it looked to be more late drama in North London; with virtually the final kick of the match, when Morgan Gibbs-White's curling effort came off the crossbar for the visitors.

THE MANAGERS' REACTION -

Arsenal boss Unai Emery has accepted that his team needs to start games in a quicker and more emphatic way following Sunday's draw.

The Gunners, along with Cardiff City, are the only two sides in the Premier League to not be leading at the half-time break so far this season.

"Maybe (starting slow is) one thing we can improve but that comes naturally in our work," the Arsenal boss said.

"The team played with character and we had chances to draw before our goal. We also continued to look for ways to create and to win the game but then we drew.

"In the last five or 10 minutes, we had the same idea with the risk but also thinking to win."

Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo has acknowledged his team's effort at the Emirates and has admitted how proud he is with his side.

"Coming to the Emirates and playing the way we have played, we should be proud," Santo insisted.

"We need to speak among ourselves about what was not possible to achieve. There is a clear improvement, better defence, creating many chances and keep on working.

"Even when Arsenal equalised, the best chances were ours and they asked the referee for more time. If we had more time maybe we would have been better."
