Arsenal defender Stephan Lichsteiner has no intentions to retire from football despite rumours of the Swiss international planning to...
Reports have been put out that Lichsteiner is becoming increasingly frustrated with the lack of first-team opportunities he's had at the Gunners so far.
Hector Bellerin, at the moment, is keeping the 34-year-old out of manager Unai Emery's plans.
Lichsteiner only joined Arsenal in the summer from Juventus as theItalian champions chose not to renew the right-back's contract.
"If I have to admit that I can not keep the level of the last few years, then it is time," Lichsteiner told Sport .ch.
"But then I will not only resign from the Swiss national team but finish my career. Based purely on performance data, I have the physicality of a 28-year-old."
Lichsteiner will be aiming to impress his new boss Emery as he looks to make the right-back spot his own.
"It is quite unusual for me to be a substitute," he added. "Three games in a row, that's never happened to me.
"If you have achieved a lot in your career, you have high expectations of yourself and want to play. But I also know that I will get the chance to play games."
