Loftus-Cheek could be "one of the best in Europe"

Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek could become "one of Europe's best midfielders" according to his manager Maurizio Sarri.

Loftus-Cheek starred in Chelsea's 5-0 thrashing of Dynamo Kyiv in the Europa League Round of 16 on Thursday night.

The 23-year-old has become one of the Blues' strongest midfielders over the last year or so and his performance in Ukraine did little to harm his great reputation.

Loftus-Cheek did struggle with an injury since the start of the year and will now be hoping to kick on as Chelsea look to secure Champions League qualification for next season.

"He did very well. He is improving in the last month," the Chelsea boss said after the win away at Kyiv.

"He has been able to train after the problem with the back. He had a wonderful match and I'm really happy he could play for 90 minutes.

"His potential as a player is very, very high. Physically, technically and tactically he is improving, he can become one of the best midfielders not only in England but in Europe."

Chelsea return to Premier League action on Sunday, with Loftus-Cheek in contention to feature some part at least, at Goodison Park to face Everton.
