Premier League referee Bobby Madley was sacked following the 32-year-old sending an "inappropriate message" on social media.
The message is understood to have said that Madley would be able to beat a disabled man in a race on a school sports day.
The image was seen by the Professional Game Match Officials Limited, and then Madley was told that his contract with the Premier League would be terminated with immediate effect.
Madley is currently in Norway, wanting to restart his career out there and he wants to continue being a match official.
The Premier League stated to Sky Sports News: "Bobby Madley is no longer employed by PGMOL.
"We understand he has decided to relocate due to a change in his personal circumstances."
Madley's Premier League career has come to an abrupt end following officiating 91 matches in five years as a Premier League referee.
