Foden, 18, has been linked with a move abroad in the last few weeks - with just 18 months left to run on his current deal.

Talks between City and the youngster have been happening for some time, but the champions remain confident of an agreement.

Foden made his Manchester City debut last season in a victory against Feyenoord in the UEFA Champions League.

The 18-year-old's only goal for City came in September, when City breezed to a 3-0 win at Oxford.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola revealed earlier this season that he wanted Foden to stay for the long-term future.

"My dream is for him to stay for 10 years and if Phil stays for 10 years, he can - in the next decade - play regularly and after (that) I don't know what is going to happen with him," Guardiola said.
