MANCHESTER UNITED PREVIEW: WEST HAM (A)

Manchester United will be looking to put this week firmly behind them as they travel to London to face West Ham.

The embarrassing Carabao Cup exit to Derby and a heated training ground exchange between Paul Pogba and Jose Mourinho made headlines this week but United will be hoping to get back on track in what is surely a must-win game against the Hammers.

MOURINHO'S COMMENTS:

Earlier this week Mourinho confirmed Pogba would no longer be captain or vice-captain for the Red Devils and their disagreement has raised questions as to whether Pogba had played his last game for the club.

When asked about his relationship with the Frenchman, Mourinho said:

"It is the manager and player. Exactly that. Paul said that. He is correct. Good relation between player and manager. The relationship between player and manager is good. Nobody trained better than Paul Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. Some trained as well, nobody better."

Mourinho confirmed, perhaps surprisingly, that Pogba will start on Saturday:

"Tomorrow he plays. No player is bigger than the club. He is a good player."

The Man United boss still refused to give a clear reason as to why Pogba was stripped of his captaincy and reiterated the reason he gave back on Wednesday:

"I explain very detailed to the people who have to know the detail, the squad and Paul. After a lot of analysis, me and the coaching staff decided to do that. After weeks of analysing changing opinions, we made a decision he should just be a player, not a captain."

TEAM NEWS:

Marcus Rashford will be available after serving his three match suspension while Marcos Rojo is the only injury United have.

Lee Grant looks set to be back up to David De Gea as Sergio Romero is suspended after picking up a red card against Derby on Tuesday.

STATS:

West Ham have only beaten Manchester United once in 19 Premier League games with that victory coming back in May 2016.

Romelu Lukaku is prolific against the Hammers, scoring 11 goals in 11 games against them in all competitions.

BETTING ODDS:

United are favourites with the bookies for this one at 11/13 to take the win and ease the pressure on Jose Mourinho. A West Ham win is 15/4 and a draw is at 29/10.
