During his latest press conference, which lasted all of three minutes, United manager Jose Mourinho stated there are "many different reasons" for why his team are struggling this season.
He held the conference on Friday morning where he answered questions relevant to United's next game against Newcastle. His only response to his teams' struggles this season: "For many different reasons."
While he didn't explain what any of those reasons were, he assured United fans he's doing his best to turn their fortunes around. Since 1999, Manchester United have gone five games without a win just once, Mourinho admitted for a club of their size, that is not acceptable, he said: "Yes, I accept [it is not good enough]."
As it stands, United are 10th in the Premier League. Jose admitted that they will need a positive result against Newcastle after only taking one point from their previous two games.
"...We are in the position where we can do much better than that. To do that we need points, points that we lost especially in the last two Premier League matches, with one point out of six.
"To improve that position we need to win three points but we know our opponents need the points for different reasons."
Manchester United haven't won at home since their opening day 2-1 victory against Leicester. Their current winless run at home is now at four games after a goalless draw against Valencia in the week.
Newcastle are yet to win at all this season, having lost six of their eight games in all competitions. Mourinho said it would be foolish to underestimate any side coached by Rafa Benitez.
"A very good coach and a team that is always very well organised, especially against the teams in the first part of the table," said Mourinho of Newcastle and Benitez.
"Their manager is very bright on his analysis of the opponents' qualities and trying to stop them.
"The results they had against the top teams didn't get them points yet this season but gave them very close results and difficult matches for the opposition. We expect a difficult match."
