PREMIER LEAGUE PREDICTIONS: GAMEWEEK 11

It's almost time for another weekend of highly-entertaining Premier League action! Will there be a change at the top? Will Newcastle or Huddersfield get their first win(s)? Andrew Corns discusses...

Bournemouth v. Manchester United

How many Bournemouth fans would have realistically expected their side to be ahead of the Red Devils at this point?

They’re a side playing terrific football, but there’s been a renewed sense of life inside the United locker room recently.

With the recent form the likes of Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba have been in, I expect United to break down Bournemouth often enough to control the game and earn a difficult three points away from home.

Prediction: 2-1 Manchester United

Newcastle United v. Watford

With each passing week the odds of Rafa Benitez leaving Newcastle (either by his choice or getting sacked) look more likely.

The team is playing so poorly at present and with no direction that it’s hard to see where they ever pick up points.

Watford weathered a small rough patch to still find themselves in the upper half of the table.

They’ll prove far too strong for The Magpies and rely on the red-hot form of key man Roberto Pereyra to seal the win.

Prediction: 2-1 Watford

Everton v. Brighton

Two sides only separated by a point, it’s been a somewhat underwhelming start for Everton and a better than anticipated run from Chris Hughton’s men.

Everton haven’t done enough to convince me that their home advantage will spur them on. Two equally matched sides split the points here.

Prediction: 1-1 Draw

West Ham United v. Burnley

Last year’s fairytale run for Sean Dyche’s side has become a forgotten thing of the past as they are sitting far too near the relegation zone and have lost some of the team’s defensive identity.

I’m not fully confident Pellegrini’s done enough to maximise the talent West Ham have, but they have shown sparks of what they might become by the end of the season.

They’re slightly better top to bottom and with Burnley looking lost at the moment, all three points are there for West Ham if they can grab them.

Prediction: 1-0 West Ham

Cardiff City v. Leicester City

With the tragedy last week in Leicester, football is probably the furthest thing from most supporters and players’ minds.

Cardiff aren’t playing particularly well currently, and an emotional Leicester City side gets the win in an emotional match.

Prediction: 3-1 Leicester

Arsenal v. Liverpool

Arsenal’s scintillating run of results will be put to the test in this match. They may be the home side, but if Liverpool want to truly show they’re ready to challenge Manchester City of the title, it’ll be imperative they get a good result.

Even though both teams are set up to play offensive minded, Jurgen Klopp has shown he’s capable of designing a more pragmatic strategy to make sure his team aren’t exposed at the back.

Arsenal have beaten every side they should have so far in the league and have losses against the two sides that are better than them.

The trend continues here with Liverpool’s defence standing strong and Mo Salah starting to find his goalscoring form once again.

Prediction: 2-1 Liverpool

Wolverhampton v. Tottenham

Wolves have begun to slip down the table while Tottenham come into the match looking to rebound from a tough home defeat on Monday to Manchester City.

Tottenham are dealing with some injuries, specifically in their midfield, but the defence is better than Wolves and they still have Harry Kane to grab them a goal when it’s needed.

Wolves will provide a tenacious test for Tottenham but succumb to a dramatic Kane goal late.

Prediction: 2-1 Spurs

Manchester City v. Southampton

Manchester City appear to be on cruise control and Pep will need to make certain his players aren’t already eyeing the Manchester derby next week.

Luckily for him Southampton aren’t good enough to test City even if they’re not fully on their game.

Another game that City have wrapped up by the hour mark and see them push to improve their goal differential even more just in case things get interesting in May.

Prediction: 3-0 Manchester City

Chelsea v. Crystal Palace

The way Chelsea are playing since Sarri took over is impressive to say the least. Many expected a gradual, even clunky transition as players adapted to such a contrasting style to previous manager, Antonio Conte which hasn’t proven to be the case.

They host a Crystal Palace side lost in the shuffle of the table: not so bad that they should really concern themselves with relegation, but nowhere near strong enough to push into the top half of the table.

Chelsea grab a goal early, control the pace of the game and see out an easy win.

Prediction: 2-0 Chelsea

Huddersfield Town v. Fulham

This could prove a crucial fixture in the relegation battle when we look back at the end of the season.

Fulham fans must be in dismay after such an optimistic summer of signings has turned into a horror show at the bottom of the table.

Huddersfield reside dead last in the league due to an abysmal goal differential and it’s hard to see any way they pull off a miracle like last year and survive.

Both teams will play positively to grab the victory and earn much needed points. This should be more entertaining than one might expect with each team earning a point.

Prediction: 2-2 Draw
