PREVIEW: Bournemouth vs Burnley

Burnley face another huge test in their bid for Premier League safety as they travel down to Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.

The Clarets sit a place above the drop-zone and are five points clear of Cardiff City as it stands, with rivals Southampton losing on Friday night.

Bournemouth, meanwhile, are in 12th-place and have no danger of dropping in-and-around the relegation battle.

These teams met earlier in the season, and Burnley thrashed the Cherries 4-0, with Ashley Barnes scoring a late brace in the last 10 minutes.

TEAM NEWS

Bournemouth defender Adam Smith may be involved for the first time in four weeks, having recovered from a thigh strain.

Steve Cook, Andrew Surman, Simon Francis and Lewis Cook are all sidelined for the Cherries at the Vitality Stadium.

Burnley striker Peter Crouch is out after an appendix operation, with Aaron Lennon and Steven Defour both sidelined as well.

THE MANAGERS

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe has described his team's form of one win in eight games as a "disappointing return".

The Cherries have gone a bit stale recently, with that one victory, coming against 20th-place Huddersfield Town at the start of March.

"It is a disappointing return," Howe admitted. "I think there are a combination of factors. We are very keen to perform (on Saturday) for a whole host of different reasons - the main thing being that last week we were disappointed with what we delivered.

"It's very clear we have to give our absolute best, give everything to the game and hope that will be enough to get us the result."

Burnley manager Sean Dyche has revealed his players have loads of energy recently and they're excited for the Bournemouth clash.

The Clarets beat an impressive Wolves side 2-0 last weekend at Turf Moor, to significantly increase their survival hopes.

"There is always a slight shift in mentality when you win, but the demand has been good here anyway," the Burnley boss explained.

"The lads have been full of energy this week and we're ready to go.

"There's more to be done before the end of the season, but we've put ourselves in a decent position."
