REPORT: Newcastle 0-1 Crystal Palace

Luka Milivojevic scored a late penalty for Crystal Palace as they picked up a late win for the Eagles at Newcastle United.

Salomon Rondon and James Tomkins had goals ruled out in the first-half, both correctly, before Palace stole the victory with less than 10 minutes remaining.

DeAndre Yedlin brought down Wilfried Zaha in the box and Milivojevic scored his 10th goal from 12-yards this season.

Palace are in 12th following the late win, with the Magpies in 15th-place, seven points ahead of the drop-zone.

Palace had the first chance of the match as Jeffrey Schlupp went close on the corner of the area, before Rondon had a goal disallowed for offside.

Vicente Guaita had to deal with shots from Matt Ritchie and Rondon once again, but dealt with both very well.

Palace then thought they'd taken the lead after Tomkins turned in a Milivojevic corner, but it was correctly deemed offside.

Florian Lejeune had a glorious opportunity to take the lead for Newcastle, but his thumping header was too close to Guaita.

Lejeune, who had a knee injury for most of the season, was taken off on a stretcher just after the hour-mark with a similar-looking injury.

Christian Benteke had a great chance to give the visitors the lead via an Andros Townsend delivery, but couldn't convert.

Zaha was causing the Magpies some issues on the left and it finally told, when Yedlin lent into the Ivorian forward and referee Stuart Attwell awarded a penalty.

Milivojevic approached, and obviously converted, sending Martin Dubravka the wrong way and sent the traveling Eagles into raptures, up high in the heavens at St. James' Park.

THE MANAGERS

Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez: "You cannot believe you have lost. Not even drawn, but lost. With the chances that we've had with the control of the game we had. Yes, we know they are dangerous on counter, but we made too many mistakes in the last minutes. We had enough chances to win the game, but for sure not to lose the game."

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson: "My fence has been taken away from me... I've got nothing to sit on any more! Yes, I think 39 points with our goal difference, I'd like to think that will see us over the line. It was a hard-fought game and I'm pleased with the way we've handled it."
