RICHARLISON BRACE ENDS SEAGULLS' WINNING STREAK

Richarlison scored twice as Everton ended Brighton and Hove Albion's winning streak to win 3-1 at Goodison Park.

Chris Hughton's Seagulls had won their last three games heading into Saturday afternoon's game but Richarlison ensured that run ended.

Richarlison opened the scoring just before the half-hour mark, before Brighton defender Lewis Dunk levelled minutes later.

Seamus Coleman put the Toffees back in front in the second-half; with his first goal in almost two years, before Richarlison completed the scoring late on.

Everton started off the brighter of the teams; with Gylfi Sigurdsson having two great opportunities for the Toffees, but was wasteful with his finishing.

An Everton counter-attack gave the hosts a lead, when Sigurdsson played a one-two with Bernard before slotting it into the path of Richarlison who made no mistake with the finish.

But Brighton reacted well, with Alireza Jahanbakhsh and Solly March linking up from a short corner, with the latter crossing to Dunk who headed home.

Everton thought they'd regained the lead after the second-half started, when Idrissa Gueye hit the post.

However, Coleman fired hard and low to put Everton back in front with his first goal since scoring against Crystal Palace in January 2017.

A mistake from goalscorer Dunk gifted Richarlison his second and Everton's third to put the game beyond any reasonable doubt.

Everton brought Yerry Mina on with five minutes to go for his debut, albeit a brief one.

STATS:

- Everton's win is their fourth in five Premier League matches; as many as they recorded in their previous 14 before that.

- Brighton's away form is certainly a problem - with just one win in their last 19 away games.

- 10 of Lewis Dunk's last 12 league goals for the Seagulls have been headers.

THE MANAGERS:

Everton boss Marco Silva was very pleased with his team's strong performance at Goodison Park.

"It was a pleasure to see how we played and how we won the game," Silva said. "Honestly, we really deserved the three points and, in my opinion, it was our best performance at home this season.

"The only thing I didn't like was the corner when they scored to make it 1-1 because they didn't have a chance to score and Jordan (Pickford) made just one save at the end of the match.

"We controlled the match with the ball, without the ball we did well, but in that moment, we have to do better."

Brighton manager Chris Hughton believes his side were outperformed today and the money that Everton have spent showed at times.

"It was a tough game for us," Hughton said. "We're up against a team who have spent big but brought quality players in and at times that really showed today.

"We had to dig deep and got ourselves back in the game. We had a really good period at the end of that second half, but at 1-1, we had to start the second half better than we did. Certainly, we needed to make sure we didn't concede as early as we did."
