There were some worrying sides for the hosts early on, when Bournemouth pretty easily found themselves in a strong position; with Jordon Ibe's shot being blocked by Federico Fernandez.
However, it was the Cherries who should have been worried - Rondon's first shot was parried out by Asmir Begovic, but the 'keeper couldn't keep out the striker's second effort.
Bournemouth had a penalty appeal turned down immediately after, when David Brooks thought he was tripped by Fernandez, but the referee was adamant there wasn't enough contact.
Rondon was at the double for Newcastle! The Venezuelan's header was too powerful for Begovic, after Kenedy crossed in for the striker.

St. James' Park was buzzing. A completely different stadium these last two weeks to what it has been for the most-part of the season's opening.
But the fans' joy quickly turned to nerves, when Jefferson Lerma converted his diving header for the Cherries on the brink of half-time.
Rondon could have had his hat-trick after the break, but the striker couldn't direct his header from Kenedy's cross on target.
Newcastle held on without too much pressure on their goal for their second win in as many games.
STAT OF THE MATCH:
Salomon Rondon's brace is only the second time the Venezuela striker has scored twice in a Premier League match.
