SANCHEZ TO HAVE KNEE SURGERY

West Ham United midfielder Carlos Sanchez will have to undergo surgery on his knee, according to the Daily Mail.

Sanchez has only been at the Hammers a matter of months, since joining the East London side in the summer.

However, the Colombia international will face a number of weeks on the sidelines following ligament damage he sustained.

The defensive midfielder got the injury in West Ham's 8-0 thrashing of Macclesfield in the Carabao Cup last month.

Sanchez has only started twice for the Irons this season, with three substitute appearances to his name.

West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini delivered an update on Sanchez, who will start rehab very soon.

"Carlos had a problem with his knee ligament, maybe he will need a couple of weeks to be able to have surgery but he needs that," the Chilean manager said.
