SHAW CLOSE TO UNITED CONTRACT EXTENSION

Manchester United full-back Luke Shaw is very close to signing a new contract extension at Old Trafford.

Shaw's current contract expires next summer, but the left-back is keen to commit his future to United.

The England international has recently come back into favour under Jose Mourinho, starting seven of eight Manchester United league games this season.

Shaw had a difficult campaign last season, as he was recovering from a serious leg break.

There are 10 other United players whose contracts run out in June 2019; but Sky Sports reveal that Shaw is one of many they wish to stay at the club.

David de Gea and Anthony Martial are two of those players, and discussions regarding their respective contracts are ongoing.

Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young will be assessed on how they perform between now and the end of the season before United make a decision on their futures.

Chris Smalling and Phil Jones' futures look uncertain at Old Trafford - likewise with Ander Herrera, Matteo Darmian, Andreas Pereira and Juan Mata.
