TOTTENHAM VS LIVERPOOL: COMBINED XI

Updated: Sep 14, 2018

Goalkeeper – Hugo Lloris

He may be injured for this weekend’s clash but Lloris is proven quality in the Premier League and has been performing at the top of his game for several years.

Liverpool’s Alisson is a quality keeper but his mistake against Leicester means he wouldn’t get in over the World Cup winning captain.

Defence – Kieran Trippier, Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, Andy Robertson

England’s World Cup superstar Kieran Trippier has continued his wonderful form into the new season, curling in a delicious free kick against Fulham on their last outing at Wembley.

Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen are arguably the best centre back partnership in the world.

The Belgian barrier has been keeping out some of the top attacks in world football since Alderweireld signed from Atletico Madrid for just £11m in 2015.

Andy Robertson has continued his terrific form for Hull at Anfield, filling a hole that Liverpool have been unable to fill since the departure of John Arne Riise.

Midfield – Moussa Dembele, James Milner, Christian Eriksen

Moussa Dembele is an absolute monster in Spurs’ midfield, gliding his was through opposing teams at ease.

He is the perfect foil for Christian Eriksen, who yet again had a terrific season last year and drove his Denmark team into the last 16 of the World Cup.

James Milner is showing why he is still regarded as a fantastic midfielder with his displays for Liverpool. He shows no signs of ageing and is seemingly only getting better.

Attack – Mo Salah, Heung-min Son, Harry Kane

Mo Salah had a wonderful season last year, scoring 32 goals in the Premier League alone. He has got off to a good start this season but it is yet to be seen if he can recreate his form.

South Korea’s Asian Games captain and star player Heung-min Son showed incredible passion and desire in winning his gold medal that he also shows for Tottenham, scoring important and often spectacular goals.

There was only man who could fill the striker position and that’s Harry Kane. 20+ goals in four consecutive Premier League season and a World Cup golden boot for the world class star, and there is sure to be more this season.
