TEAM OF THE WEEK: GAMEWEEK 4

Goalkeeper: Marcus Bettinelli (Fulham)

Fulham will be pleased with the start to their Premier League return. Having made great additions to an already strong squad, they look ready to compete in the top league.

One of the players from last season, Marcus Bettinelli is proving his worth as Fulham’s number one.

Despite losing their two-goal lead to Brighton, the game began with a great penalty save from Bettinelli as he dived down to his right to prevent an impressive Pascal Gross opener.

Without the save from Bettinelli, the game would’ve without doubt ended with a different outcome.

Right Back: Kyle Walker (Manchester City)

The versatile 28-year-old is proving to be a massive part of Pep Guardiola’s team as well as Gareth Southgate’s.

One thing Walker isn’t known for though is his goalscoring however his screamer proved to be the winner against Newcastle.

His first goal for the club will be one to remember for Walker and it’s becoming very clear that the defender is a massive part of Pep Guardiola’s plans.

Centre Back: Joe Gomez (Liverpool)

The young defender has been in and out of Liverpool’s team for a long time now but the 21-year-old has finally cemented his position alongside Virgil Van Dijk for this season so far.

His excellent reading of the game and willingness to put his body on the line has impressed Liverpool fans.

At still a young age, it’s inevitable that Gomez will soon feature for England. With one of the league’s best defenders in Van Dijk next to him, expect to see a phenomenal breakthrough year for the young English defender.

Centre Back: Craig Cathcart (Watford)

All four of Watford’s opening games have been won now and they have been impressive under Javi Gracia.

Seeing off title challengers Spurs at home has been their best performance yet. Cathcart and Kabasele have been a top partnership and crucial to this Watford team.

Any side that wants to have a real impressive finish in the Premier League needs a solid defence and the experience that 29-year-old Cathcart brings to the Watford back line is crucial.

His excellent defending was rounded off by scoring the winner too against a strong Spurs team.

Left Back: Andrew Robertson (Liverpool)

Robertson is without doubt one of the top full backs in the league now. The attacking threat that the Scottish international has is very important in a modern day full back.

His assist for Sadio Mane against Leicester is exactly what he is all about.

At still only 24-years-old, the £8 million signing from Hull City is proving to be one of the league’s top bargains over the last few years.

Robertson will without doubt finish the season with one of the most assists for a defender.

Right Midfielder: Adama Traore (Wolves)

Since joining for a hefty transfer fee from Middlesbrough, Traore has a lot to prove in a Wolves shirt.

The former Barcelona winger has been in England for three years now and has featured in both the Championship and the Premier League.

His goal against West Ham proved to be the only goal of the game, his pace and attacking threat will be important for Wolves this year and is still only just 22-years-old.

Centre Midfielder: Nemanja Matic (Manchester United)

It hasn’t been an easy few weeks for Man United and despite the endless amounts of talent that the squad has, the results under Jose Mourinho hasn’t been good enough.

One player that will need to step up is Nemanja Matic.

The former Chelsea midfielder made more passes than anyone else against Burnley and it is clear that the big, powerful midfielder is a massive part of how Mourinho’s side play.

Centre Midfielder: Pierre-Emile Højbjerg (Southampton)

It hasn’t been the ideal start for Southampton this season under Mark Hughes but Southampton have players in their squad to keep them in this league. Højbjerg is one of them.

The former Bayern Munich midfielder is still only 23 and we are yet to see his best.

His constant threat against Crystal Palace and his goal on the counter attack to seal the three points is exactly what Southampton need more of.

The Danish international is going to be a key figure of Mark Hughes’ side and will need to chip in with more goals and assists to keep the Saints up.

Left Midfielder: Eden Hazard (Chelsea)

Nobody can deny the talent of Eden Hazard. With Chelsea keeping hold of the Belgian winger, it was possibly more important that any other signing they could’ve made.

The quick, nippy winger created chance after chance for his Chelsea team mates against Bournemouth.

It was made difficult for Chelsea by Eddie Howe’s side but when Chelsea got their first, Hazard got the second and sealed the game however with the chances Hazard provided, it could’ve been over much earlier.

Centre Forward: Glenn Murray (Brighton & Hove Albion)

Brighton’s Glenn Murray scored his second and third goal of the season in a great comeback against Fulham this weekend.

As Brighton were 2-0 down, Murray managed to rescue a point for Brighton. The veteran striker is still proving at 34-years-old he can get goals in the top flight.

Murray is going to be a massive asset to Brighton if they want to avoid relegation this season and his goals and his experience is going to be massive for the Seagulls.

Centre Forward: Romelu Lukaku (Manchester United)

Another Man United player who has been questioned this season. His miss against Spurs last week was heavily criticized but he answered back the critics with two goals against Burnley this weekend to take the pressure off himself, his manager and his teammates.

The Belgian striker is still only 25 and is will still be scoring goals over the next few years in the Premier League.

He may receive criticism but when he turns it on, he can be unplayable for most defenders in this division.

Manager: Javi Gracia (Watford)

Four wins in four games for new Watford boss Javi Gracia. The 48-year-old is enjoying his first managerial spell in the Premier League and managed to see off title challengers Spurs this weekend.

There is still a long way to go for the Hornets but they have been exceptional under their new boss and their perfect start will give the fans plenty of confidence going into the International break.
