Another weekend full of action and drama; the Premier League consistently delivers! George Allen reviews the weekend and chooses his best XI from the weekend's fixtures...
(3-5-2)
Goalkeeper: David de Gea (Manchester United)
If there was any doubt over who is the league’s top goalkeeper, there certainly isn’t now. The Spanish goalkeeper proved his value to this Manchester United team by pulling off a world class save to deny Kabasele in the final minute.
The save has saved meant that their three points wasn’t reduced to just one and it’s fair to say De Gea will continue to be a crucial figure in this Man United team.
Centre Back: Adam Smith (Bournemouth)
The Bournemouth defender has remained a vital part of the Bournemouth team, as he has done so over the last few seasons under Eddie Howe.
His goal over the weekend against Leicester was the fourth for Bournemouth and put the game to bed.
Smith will continue to be an important part of Bournemouth’s defence this season and has been a massive contributor to their good start.
Centre Back: Chris Smalling (Manchester United)
Despite being an inconsistent starter for Man United and a constant rotation of the defence being made by Mourinho, Smalling shone this weekend as he managed to score United’s second goal which gained them the three points.
It looks like we may see Smalling staying in Mourinho’s starting eleven for next week at least but he still has more work to do to cement his position fully.

Centre Back: Joe Gomez (Liverpool)
The young English defender has been one of Jurgen Klopp’s most important players so far this season.
Alongside Virgil van Dijk, they have been immense for the Reds and have been the top team defensively.
Another impressive and solid performance against a testing Spurs team will go a long way towards a potential England call up soon for the 21-year-old.
Right Midfielder: Andriy Yarmolenko (West Ham United)
It hasn’t been an easy start for any of West Ham’s new signings but it hasn’t been a good enough standard from West Ham so far.
However, their first win of the season against Everton was well deserved and Yarmolenko played a vital part of it.
Two first half goals from the Ukrainian was enough to give West Ham their first three points on the table and will be a boost for their form going forward.
Centre Midfielder: Marouane Fellaini (Manchester United)
The Belgian midfielder is divided in opinion however his physical presence would benefit any team in this league.
He may not be the most elegant player to watch but he can certainly change a game just through his physicality.
His constant ariel threat was enough to provide an assist for Chris Smalling and he proved to be a bother for the Watford defence all game.
Centre Midfielder: Granit Xhaka (Arsenal)
Another midfielder who can’t always keep his consistency but when on form is great. His fantastic free kick helped their 2-1 win over Newcastle and if Emery can continue to get the best out of the Swiss international, they will be a much stronger team.
Xhaka will always split the opinion of Arsenal fans but when his best is on show, it’s fair to say he is a important player for the Gunners with plenty of goals in him.

Centre Midfielder: Georginio Wijnaldum (Liverpool)
The Dutch midfielder has been a big part of Jurgen Klopp’s side in recent seasons. Even in a team packed with very good midfielders, the former Newcastle man is proving his worth in this Liverpool team.
His headed goal against Spurs opened the scoring and his ability to run with the ball was impressive throughout the game.
Left Midfielder: Ryan Fraser (Bournemouth)
The Scottish winger added his second and third of the season against Leicester and is now not only the top goalscoring midfielder in the league but also the top assister in the league. Fraser has had a terrific start to the season.
Three goals and two assists in the opening five games has gone a long way to Bournemouth’s great start to the season.
Centre Forward: Eden Hazard (Chelsea)
The hat-trick hero is the standout player in this team. The Belgian has been in phenomenal form already this season and his manager described him as “the best in Europe” after his three goals against Cardiff.
Despite links with some big clubs over the summer, Hazard’s decision to stay at Stamford Bridge has resulted in them being considered serious title contenders.

Centre Forward: Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace)
Wilfried Zaha continues to be the main man for Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace as his terrific solo goal was the only one needed to give Palace the three points.
His fast, tricky run followed by a powerful right footed finish was one of his best goals in a Palace shirt.
Despite the impressive performance, the Ivory Coast International was on the end of another strong challenge from an opponent and he said “I feel before anyone gets a red card I have to get my leg broken” and he believes he isn’t protected enough by referees.
Manager: Manuel Pellegrini (West Ham United)
After four games without a win for the former Man City boss, their fifth game against Everton gave the Hammers fans something to smile about. A 3-1 win against a strong Everton team was a great 65th birthday present for Pellegrini.
The win will turn the talks of a potential sacking at this stage of the season to whispers and it may just have ignited the start of West Ham’s season.
